Archiving is a key part of the archaeological process – without a secure and accessible archive, our information is lost to future researchers.

Wessex Archaeology work with museums across the UK and with national and regional bodies to preserve both physical and digital archives. We help them manage archaeological collections more efficiently and develop robust strategies for retaining artefacts. We have also advised major infrastructure projects.

Our experienced staff are at the forefront of new archiving initiatives and are particularly skilled in managing digital data. We have decades of experience in preparing and depositing archaeological archives, helping to set and maintain standards, and understand all the issues and challenges surrounding this process.
