Frances Ward

Based in Bristol, it is my job to prepare and deposit the archives for the Wessex Archaeology West team. As part of my role, I liaise with museums across the country from the beginning to the end of each project that we archive. I compile all the specialist work that goes into each project, from writing Written Schemes of Investigation, overseeing the primary archive produced by the fieldwork team and the specialist analyses and reports completed during post-excavation. I make sure that the finds are archived in good time and that we follow nationally recommended guidance, good practice and museum-specific guidelines to ensure each archive’s potential as a future resource.

I am motivated by building mutually beneficial relationships with museums.  A key part of that is keeping a clear line of communication open with them during the life span of each project.
