Expertise
Coastal & MarineSince joining Wessex Archaeology as a Senior Marine Project Officer and becoming their diving supervisor in 2003, I have led work for a wide range of commercial, government and not-for-profit clients. These have included national curators such as Historic England, government bodies such as the US Department of Defence and the UK Ministry of Defence and a wide range of industry clients, including extensive work for ports, harbour operators and offshore wind developers.
I currently work as researcher, site director, diver and diving supervisor, as well as an ROV pilot and ROV supervisor. I also undertake offshore watching briefs and drone piloting. Some of my recent projects include conducting an ROV survey of the 1917 wreck of the USS Jacob Jones off the Isles of Scilly for the US Navy, leading casualty recovery diving work for the DPAA on two Second World War aircraft wrecks off the Dutch and Danish coasts, carrying out an ROV investigation for Historic England of a 1746 Royal Navy wreck off Beachy Head and researching oil fuels used by the Royal Navy to inform the UK Ministry of Defence’s response pollution risks posed by 20th century wrecks.
My experience and expertise means that I can be relied upon by our clients to meet their objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner and provide them with the quality data and authoritative advice they require, as well as providing real time onsite representation in time-sensitive situations. My consultations have helped facilitate development, as well as supporting the protection of many nationally and internationally important archaeological sites. Part of my work focuses on social value, working with a diverse range of people and communities. I have completed a significant amount of pro-bono work, earning plaudits from a number of governments across the world. One of my educational projects was short-listed for the Europa Nostra award.
