The waste sector has been tasked with reducing the amount of waste which goes into landfill by 2030 as part of the UK Government's Clean Growth Strategy. This change in the way that the UK treat waste will mean that new and different types of facilities will need to be developed. A lack of suitable development land is likely to be resolved by the regeneration of brownfield sites which come with a wide range of economic challenges and regulatory requirements.
Specialist teams at Wessex Archaeology work closely with clients and the planning authorities from the early stages of a project to provide expert advice and innovative, elegant solutions to the archaeological and heritage project risks. We also work with clients to positively promote these new developments and establish their place in existing communities through outreach and public engagement.
