Manager Key staff Geophysics

I was fortunate to join Wessex Archaeology in 2019 after spending 32 years as an active Geophysicist in global O&G exploration, I chose to make the change in support of a more sustainable future. I’m currently focussed on bringing those varied experiences to bear on heritage projects large and small in support of our clients; being able to empathise from an operator and contractor perspective. As a physicist by first degree with an MBA attained while working I specialise in applied knowledge in both technical and management endeavours. I have the perspectives, and all the stories, that go with managing very large projects on all 7 continents and seas, especially through the early years of emergence of HSSE culture. Currently I am particularly driven by Wessex’s involvement in the off-shore renewables industry as a major focus of sustainability.

My MBA focussed on strategy and environmental management and as a passionate advocate and former Director of HSSE I am skilled in the pragmatic deployment of system frameworks to achieve organisational goals. I believe that properly incentivised teams are capable of more than the sum of their parts and that we, the Marine Geophysics Team, should enjoy the journey. Transparent definition of goals allows our stakeholders to judge us and the judgement of our peers is paramount in both personal and corporate satisfaction.

I’m a member of the Geological Society, EAGE and SEG. Outside the office I’m trying to corral grown-up kids towards fulfilling their potential, and wondering if a C17th Wiltshire thatched cottage was really the better mid-life crisis solution than a Porsche.
