Expertise

Executive Management

I joined Wessex Archaeology as Chief Executive in April 2024. With more than 23 years of experience developing archaeological and heritage practices in the UK and internationally, I pride myself on being an innovative leader.

I am responsible for shaping the organisation’s vision, strengthening our existing partnerships and forming new ones as well as building advocacy across the heritage sector and beyond. I am passionate about creating an inclusive, supportive and collaborative workplace for everyone at Wessex Archaeology.

Having co-founded L - P: Archaeology in 2000 and led the thriving company of 100+ employees for more than 20 years, I successfully transferred the business to MOLA in 2022.

As Director of Research and Innovation at MOLA, I led the organisation’s creative output as well as the strategic development of a range of key areas including research and engagement, digital solutions, and financial and business intelligence systems.

In addition to my extensive commercial experience – where I have a track record of championing sustainable and creative solutions to managing the historic environment – my specialist area of expertise is digital applications for archaeology. I have published on this subject extensively, gaining my PhD from UCL in 2013.

My research portfolio and field experience include projects in the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site, Ukraine, the Falkland Islands and the Battlefield of Waterloo, where I am a Co-Director of Waterloo Uncovered.
