Expertise

Coastal & Marine

I joined Wessex Archaeology’s Coastal & Marine department based in Edinburgh in 2017 and am now part of a multidisciplinary team there. My previous archaeology career was spent as a commercial archaeologist in Malta.

My main interest is in traditional wooden craft, boatbuilding techniques and ethnographic studies and documentation of the smaller wooden crafts that operated or still operate along local coastlines.

I am motivated by a keen interest in combining traditional and digital documentation techniques as a means of documenting both terrestrial and underwater cultural heritage assets.  Most of my youth was spent either at the pool or by the sea-side and I still spend quite a bit of my spare time in the water. Apart from my aquatic habits, I am an avid traveller, I enjoy reading both fiction and detective stories, and have recently tried my hand at floristry.
