John Winfer

I joined Wessex Archaeology’s Sheffield team in January 2019 as a Project Manager in the Fieldwork team. 

My role is to manage and deliver archaeological projects, ensuring that they meet client requirements and underpin Wessex Archaeology’s commitment to quality, value and public benefit. 

I have had a varied career since I graduated from the University of Lampeter with a BA in Archaeology in 1998. After working in a couple of different non-archaeology related roles, I moved to Ireland, where I worked for commercial archaeology companies for over ten years. 

I returned to England in 2013, where I have been working mainly in London and the Midlands in both consultancy and fieldwork roles. My previous position was at SLR Consulting in Nottingham.

I am really enjoying working with and learning from the team in the Sheffield office, and the rest of my colleagues across the company.
