Caroline Budd

I started work with Wessex Archaeology in 1998 as a fieldwork site assistant and 20 years later I am now Chief Operating Officer having acquired a unique range of in-depth knowledge, skills and experience about archaeology and heritage along the way. I lead an experienced team of Operational Directors across a range of specialisms from coastal & marine right through to built heritage, all of whom provide expert advice and services on a wide range of projects from small single dwelling developments to large infrastructure projects and public sector contracts.

My experience has provided me with a clear overview of our people and our business. This knowledge allows me to act as a member of the Executive Management Team who are responsible for the success, culture and strategic direction of Wessex Archaeology.

I am motivated by the amazing people that I work with and by a real belief that, if engaged with early in the planning process, heritage can be an asset to any commercial development.

When I’m not at work I love being outdoors indulging in my passion for gardening, enjoying the sunshine and spending time with my three cats.
