Expertise

Manager

I joined the Fieldwork team in the mid ‘90s and have worked on and off with Wessex Archaeology since then. As a Project Manager, I am responsible for costing, designing and implementing archaeological investigations for clients and supporting fieldwork staff in their execution.

I have over 30 years of experience within the sector and my expertise lies in interpreting complex stratigraphy and archaeological landscapes. After graduating from Southampton University in 1985, I worked on archaeological projects across the south of Britain, as well as in Germany, the Netherlands and the Middle East. Particular highlights for me have been excavating waterlogged Neolithic settlements in Germany, digging in Roman Dorchester, and excavations of the Medieval city of Breda, in The Netherlands. I authored the most current synthesis of the monuments around Old Sarum and Stratford-sub-Castle, which forms the backbone of Southampton University’s research investigations at Old Sarum.

For several years, I also ran my own commercial freelance business, building up valuable relationships with key stakeholders in South and South West England, and gained experience teaching students at both Sparsholt and Wiltshire Colleges.
