Wednesday 29 April 2015 saw the latest Volunteer Together event take place behind the scenes at the Stonehenge Visitor Centre.

Volunteer Together events are organised by the members of the Stonehenge and Avebury Learning & Outreach Group (English Heritage, National Trust, Salisbury Museum, Wiltshire Museum and Wessex Archaeology) as a way of thanking our many enthusiastic volunteers and sharing news from the World Heritage Site.

Wednesday’s event was a VIP preview of the new special exhibition at Stonehenge, ‘Wish You Were Here’. The exhibition celebrates the changing relationship between Stonehenge and its visitors over time, featuring objects such as historical guidebooks, souvenirs and postcards on loan from Salisbury Museum, Wiltshire Museum and Julian Richards’ personal collection. Julian himself introduced the event and guided volunteers round the fascinating exhibition. The preview was followed by updates from the World Heritage Site and a chance to chat over tea and cake.
