Wessex Archaeology was in the media spotlight this morning with an appearance on the BBC Radio Wiltshire Breakfast Show.
Andrew Powell, Senior Archaeologist with WA, spoke about the excavations within the Avebury World Heritage Site in 1993. This investigation provided unexpected evidence of a Roman road-side settlement next to Silbury Hill.
Evidence included a number of chalk wall foundations and several pits and ditches following the Roman road and extending along the river towards Avebury.
