Wessex Archaeology is looking for participants in a community archaeology investigation which has been commissioned by Sheffield City Council to determine the level of preservation of the remains of Sheffield’s 13th-century castle. This forms part of the Council’s wider Castlegate Kickstart regeneration programme.
While working alongside professional archaeologists, participants will have the opportunity to develop archaeological investigation skills and share the excitement of piecing together Sheffield’s medieval past and its industrial heritage.
There will be a separate process for schools to book educational visits to the site.
