Wessex Archaeology (WA) is delighted to announce that we have been approved as a Learning Destination by the Children’s University, a first for a professional archaeological practice.
The Children’s University (CU) offers 7 to 14 year olds exciting and innovative learning experiences outside the classroom. It aims to raise aspirations, boost achievement and foster a love of learning so that young people are able to make the most of their abilities and interests. WA will be working in particular with the New Forest & Southampton branch of the CU, but will seek to work with other branches around the UK in the future.
As a Learning Destination, participants in the scheme will be able to achieve a stamp in their Passport to Learning by taking part in certain WA events. These events have been approved as high quality learning experiences, and will be advertised via the CU website. Children are encouraged to collect stamps in their Passports in order to progress through a national certification scheme.
