Welcome to Jenny Whitaker, the latest addition to Wessex Archaeology’s Communications and Marketing team, who joins us for a six-month internship. Jenny will be supporting the Communications and Marketing Manager with developing high-quality content and communicating our work to our diverse range of internal and external audiences.

Jenny says:

As a Communications and Marketing Assistant, I’m deeply passionate about sharing the incredible work undertaken by Wessex Archaeology, particularly with the public.   I gained my undergraduate degree in History and MA in Eighteenth-Century Studies at the University of Southampton. During my studies I developed a focus on the history of material culture and the relationships people and communities had with their physical world, particularly through the subjects of clothing and the household.

Since graduating, I’ve worked in public libraries, museums and higher education administration. These diverse roles have consolidated my love of both heritage and meaningful communication, and I hope to bring this experience, along with a lifelong interest in getting to grips with the past, to Wessex Archaeology.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, bouldering, exploring the countryside, spending time in the garden and attempting to crochet (so far with mixed results!).”

Welcome to the team Jenny!
