Expertise

Manager Research Specialist

I joined Wessex Archaeology in 1993 as a Senior Project Officer and was subsequently made a Post-Excavation Manager in 2002 although I continue, when required, to direct major fieldwork projects. Since 2007 I have organised and run several very successful community excavations in Wiltshire, and from 2012 led Wessex Archaeology’s involvement in Operation Nightingale, an innovative military initiative which uses field archaeology to aid the recovery of service personnel wounded in conflict.

My fieldwork experience includes working on Section 2 of HS1 and the East Kent Access Road. I have seen these and numerous other projects through to publication.

I am a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, have served on the Council of the Society for Medieval Archaeology and am motivated by seeing the variety of people who appreciate the value of archaeology.

My spare time is mostly spent involved in community excavations and taking part in mining and metallurgy projects across the world – but I’m not complaining!
